ABOUT US

We went to school and was on the track team with Stephen Woolums, who took his life November 5, 2016. He was friends with everyone. His death took a large toll on his family and friends. People all over the Tri-State area were shook by what happened. We started this 5k in honor of Stephen to help raise money for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention which â€‹raises awareness, funds scientific research and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide.

Each year, we will honor someone new who has taken their life and impacted our community. In the end, we will never forget the loss that started this all. We will never forget you Stephen. #Pain2Power

#Pain2Power was set up when our son and brother committed suicide in November 2016. Our family is a very close family and the first thing we wanted to do was to help each other and then help Stephen's friends get through this tragedy.  We didn't and still don't understand why he did this but our goal is to stop others from doing it.

Depression is a very hard thing for teens to deal with.  They are embarrassed and they don't know who to talk to.  If they talk to their friends, the friends aren't sure what to do. They need to talk to an adult so that they can get help.

#Pain2Power gives money to those who are unfortunate and lose someone like we did and are unable to pay for a funeral or medical expenses we try to help out. It doesn't have to be from suicide. Pain comes in many forms.
