There is no single cause to suicide. It most often occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities of someone suffering from a mental health condition.

About Stephen Woolums

Stephen was born April 23, 1999 in KY. He had three older sisters that adored him. He was loved by everyone.  Stephen never met a stranger. He was always willing to help others. He was very interested in track, cross-country, ROTC, and weight lifting. He was always trying to better himself.

His free-time was spent at the gym working out or water skiing and surfing with his dad.

If you knew Stephen, you would have never have expected him to be the one to commit suicide.

That day we went out to eat, Stephen, his dad, and myself.  It was just like any other day.  He was laughing and telling his crazy jokes. We went to leave and he told me good-bye and that he loved me. I was headed to KY and he and his dad were headed home.  That would be the last time I would see my son.

Depression-is a mystery in all people, especially in young teens.  They don't want to talk about it.  They keep quiet and then it gets out of control. Or they will talk to their friends and their friends just don't know what to do or if they should talk to someone. The answer is YES! Talk to someone about yourself and/or your friend.
